Support for People Who Have Become Unemployed During COVID

Young People who are unemployed

Young people have been particularly affected by the rise in unemployment due to the COVID crisis. This is to do with industries such as hospitality and retail, being hit hardest. Though there is undoubtedly going to be a challenge for young people to find work during the current climate, there are certain things you can do to help when the right job comes up.

Entry to employment programmes

There are also schemes being rolled out by the government to help young people retain their jobs as well as, create new jobs for those who have found themselves on universal credit.

Government Schemes

Kickstart Scheme

The Kickstart Scheme is a great way for young people on universal credit to find employment. The Kickstart Scheme provides firms with funding for a 6-month placement for a young person aged 16-24. This is a great way for you to put your foot in the door at a firm, as well as giving you time to prove yourself. The firm will also provide you with training whilst you are working for them.
